Ute Pass Community's History
Colorado's Ute Pass
A Peaceful, Resort Community

During the 1800's, travelers from the hot dry plains of Kansas discovered a cool retreat in three towns on the centuries old Indian trail - Ute Pass. As the resort towns of Cascade, Chipita Park and Green Mountain Falls grew, wealthy vacationers from all over came by rail to stay in the grand hotels. The Ramona Hotel in Cascade, the Ute Pass Park Hotel and the Green Mountain Falls Hotel offered decadent hospitality, Saturday night dances and excursions to the waterfalls and the summit of Pikes Peak. Among the rich and famous known to spend summers here were President Dwight Eisenhower, comedian Bob Hope and P.T Barnum of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. As transportation changed and visitors built cabins and lodges for their summer use, the area became a secret haven and its' fame dwindled.

Today this community retains its' natural beauty while offering excellent accommodations, wonderful restaurants and distinctive shops. Spend a weekend in a historic lodge or bed & breakfast any time of year. Escape to a quaint cabin or shady campground for a week or for a summer. Feast on a bountiful breakfast, grab a hearty sandwich or dine in an elegant restaurant for supper. Then, from your secluded room in the foothills of Pikes Peak, jump onto Highway 24 and reach any major Pikes Peak area attraction quickly and easily. Our convenient location is just 15-20 minutes from Colorado Springs, yet seemingly far away in the mountains.oday this community retains its' natural beauty while offering excellent accommodations, wonderful restaurants and distinctive shops. For relaxation, we highly recommend a hike to the falls, a drive up the Pikes Peak highway or a stroll around Gazebo
Lake. Families will enjoy a visit to an amusement park, a popcorn factory or a fishing lake. On a romantic getaway, couples may peruse the wares of local jewelers and a mountain department store or have an afternoon libation at
a creekside restaurant. Sunday morning service is more memorable in one of our historic churches and music sounds sweeter at a concert by the lake. Throughout the summer, volunteers provide festive community events and many visitors still have fond childhood memories from Bronc Day. Nature's sounds confirm that life is safer here and a good night's sleep is guaranteed as all of our
lodging is off the main road. The sales tax is the lowest in the area making Ute Pass a travel bargain. Our greatest assets are still the fresh, clean mountain air and the panoramic views, but regulars come back for the easy hospitality and
feeling of seclusion. Please join us and discover Colorado's most peacefuI resort communities.
